Diane Griffin is University Distinguished Service Professor and Alfred and Jill Sommer Chair of the W. Harry Feinstone Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Griffin is a virologist recognized for her work on the pathogenesis of viral infections. She has been President of the American Society for Virology and of the American Society for Microbiology. Since July 2013, she is the Vice President of the United States National Academy of Sciences.
