Kristina Leppälä wins the third Falling Walls Lab Turku

On 14 June, the Abo Akademi University and the University of Turku hosted their third Falling Walls Lab Turku. A full day of presentations plus a panel discussion on 'the impact and societal relevance of research within humanities, social sciences and the arts' made the event a memorable exeperience for all participants.

The winner of the Turku Lab qualified for the Falling Walls Lab Finale which takes place in Berlin on 8 November 2016. 

Meet the winner:

1. Place: Kristina Leppälä, Finland/USA - Breaking the Wall of Post-Operative Heart Complications

Kristina's presentation dealt with post-operative heart-attacks - a common problem worldwide. Her team creates ways to predict and possibly prevent these heart complications by building a predictive model based on data collected from intra-, and post-operative events.
