Hannah Schneider is fighting world hunger
The Forschungszentrum Jülich hosted its second Falling Walls Lab. The forum for outstanding innovators and entrepreneurs took place on 4 July 2016.
With her concept on how to break the wall of world hunger the American scientist Hannah Schneider who pursues her studies at the Forschungszentrum won this edition of the Julich Lab. She contributes to fight hunger with more efficient and stable food production on marginal lands and soils. For this she investigates plants especially their root systems with the goal to optimize them and in the end to develop new, more efficient breading trades.
The second and third winner – Dr. Alexey Yakushenko and Vitali Weißbecker – are also associated with the Forschungszentrum Jülich and presented their research on "Breaking the wall of food waste" respectively "Breaking the wall of energy conversion".
All three winners of the Falling Walls Lab Jülich will travel to Berlin on 8/9 November 2016 and participate in the Falling Walls Lab Finale as one of 100 competitors. They are also awarded a ticket for the Falling Walls Conference, where some of the world's most prominent scientists present their current breakthrough research in 15 minutes each.
