Andrea Riccio and his smart technology system to reduce energy consumption win the Falling Walls Lab Naples

The Falling Walls Lab Naples was hosted by the University of Naples Federico II on 20 September 2016 and brought together emerging scientists to share their work with an interdisciplinary audience.

The presenters pitched their ideas from different fields of research and society in 3 minutes each. A distinguished jury made up of representatives from academia and industry selected the most intriguing presentation. 

The winner of the Falling Walls Lab Naples will travel to Berlin and participate in the global Lab Finale on 8 November 2016. The winner will also receive a ticket for the Falling Walls Conference on 9 November 2016 within the scope of an A.T. Kearney scholarship.

Meet the winner

1. Place: Andrea Riccio, Italy, University of Naples Federico II - Breaking the Wall of Lightning Energy Consumption 

The enormous amount of energy used to light cities it's the principal world pollution cause. In a house the light consumes more than the cooling system, the refrigerator and the computer together. The project aims to shape a new technology system. The idea focuses on the use of a smart technology based on a different approach with the transformer systems and the use of the electromagnetic field generated by it to reduce the whole amount of energy used.
